Star Trek: Picard - 7 Ups & 5 Downs From Season 1

6. The Abrams Influence

Borg Cube
CBS

A relatively short point this to simply say that, no matter what you thought about the rest of the show, it looked absolutely stunning. From how well the planet-level sets were fleshed out, to how alive locations like Freecloud were, and even the Very-Star-Trek-2009 veneer to the visual effects, it was a treat for the senses.

In particular, that brief moment of the Borg Cube emerging from the Trans-Warp hub was simply something no other Star Trek show has had the scope to do before, and hopefully sets a new standard for the franchise going forward. The show let itself down with the Cmd+C Cmd+V 400 ship standoff at the end, but otherwise, it was almost visually faultless.
