Star Trek: Top 10 Underrated Next Generation Episodes

7. Conspiracy

Remmick_aftermath I feel like a lot of episodes from the first two seasons are overlooked, mostly because a good number of them are just rehashed plot lines from the original series and the Phase II spinoff that never came to fruition. This episode was actually not only a very original idea, but also an early draft of the Borg storyline. Yes, that bug that protruded from Remmick's chest before Picard and Riker blow it to smithereens is an early form of the Borg. These bugs invade the bodies of high ranking admirals like a parasite and breathe through a quill through the neck and begin to strategically weaken the fleet in preparation for an invasion. When Picard and Riker return to Earth to investigate, a shootout at Starfleet HQ becomes one of the most hilariously gory in the history of television (see above). There's really nothing wrong with the episode, it just got stuck in the foray of the first two seasons. Go watch!
