Star Wars: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Star Destroyers

9. Just One Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer Could Overthrow A Rebellious Planet

Apart from perhaps the Death Star – although that’s more of a small moon than a ship – the Destroyer ships were some of the biggest vehicles to roam all corners of the galaxy. The Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer clocked in at a length of 1,600 meters or exactly 5249ft – that’s longer than 13 football pitches or just over one mile in length. However, the Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer would later be dwarfed in size by the Destroyer ships built by the First Order, with the Finalizer Star Destroyer measuring a whopping 2,916 meters, or exactly 9,566ft in length.

Each Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer could carry up to 9,700 stormtroopers, along with 9,235 officers and a further 27,850 enlisted crew. Because of their sheer size and manpower, just one individual Imperial I-Class Star Destroyer would be enough to overwhelm an entire rebellious planet.

When the Empire needed to overthrow major industrial worlds, they would use a fleet of six Star Destroyers alongside support cruisers and supply craft – enough force to obliterate any defenses and then occupy or destroy settlements.

Jon Hornbuckle hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
