Kevin Kliner's Clone Wars score has always been a high point, but The Phantom Apprentice is one of his best sounding episodes so far.
Kliner incorporates many of John Williams' themes from the films into his own original works. When Ashoka and Maul first clash sabers, he echos Phantom Menace's famous Duel of the Fates theme. When Obi-Wan tells Askoha about Darth Sidious, the score plays Kilner's take on the Emperor's theme. When Almec tells Ashoka about Maul's visions of Anakin, we hear hints of the Imperial March.
While the visual callbacks to the movies were too much, the auditory callbacks utilize thematic nostalgia perfectly.
