Star Wars: Clone Wars Season 7 Episode 10 - 5 Ups & 2 Downs From "Phantom Apprentice"
1. Up - Maul's Capture
All twelve Star Wars fans who have seen Star Wars: Rebels or Solo: A Star Wars Story know that Maul cannot die here, as he makes appearances in both of those properties, set after this episode.
Maul's fate in the Phantom Apprentice, then, couldn't possibly have been death. However, the writers gave us just as satisfying of a defeat for him. During his fight with Ashoka, he accidentally chops off the steel beam on which he is standing, and falls to what would be his death if Ashoka did not keep him aloft with the force. Her mercy leads to Republic reinforcement ships arriving to bring him in.
Having the Republic capture Maul is a satisfying way to defeat the menacing villain while still keeping him alive for his appearances in the future. Plus, he is still close at hand to Ashoka and the Republic, meaning his Clone Wars story may still not be over.
