Easily the most powerful of the System Lords, Anubis was banished by that loose organisation for his crimes against them (although what would really qualify as crimes to a System Lord) . He spent several hundred (or possibly thousand) years out in the depths of space, biding his time and building his enmity towards the entire galaxy. When he returned, several lesser Goa'uld immediately began to serve him and bring him his forces.

While legions of Jaffa would serve him, he would also create the Kull supersoldiers, a race of genetically engineered creatures whose only task was to destroy and to remain indomitable. Anubis stretched forth his gloved hand to conquer the galaxy and almost succeeded.

Interestingly, given his incorporeal nature, Anubis was portrayed by several different actors (David Palffy was one of them, having previously played Sokar), but the most memorable is George Dzundza. While the threat of Anubis spanned four seasons, he was the nemesis to Earth that Apophis, Sokar and Ba'al could only hope to be.
