Stranger Things: Every Main Character Ranked Worst To Best

Max, or ‘MADMAX’ as she's known around Hawkins’ Palace Arcade, was initially cold towards the middle school gang of Mike, Will, Dustin and Lucas. To be fair, their way of asking her to join their friend group was stalking her from afar and then awkwardly asking her to trick or treat with them. Still, she accepted and soon became friends with the group. She was even eventually allowed to learn the truth about Eleven and the Upside Down.

Max was a welcome addition to season two who went from bullied little stepsister to someone not afraid to stand up to Billy when he was endangering her new friends. The only reason she’s not higher on this list is because season three largely didn’t allow her that same agency. She always felt like she was part of Eleven or Billy’s emotional arcs rather than having a true one of her own.

While these were compelling arcs, it’s a shame that Max couldn’t have taken a more active role in her own story this time round.
