It's safe to say that the Duffer Brothers may have slightly underestimated the levels of popularity that Joseph Quinn's Eddie Munson would achieve amongst the Stranger Things fanbase following the debut of the new season. While they rarely miss a trick, chances are strong that the famed duo are probably severely regretting killing Munson off the show after just nine episodes.
The introduction of Eddie was lauded by fans and critics as one of the best things about the consensus best season of Stranger Things to date. Producing an absolute barnburner of a performance as the eccentric, anti-establishment leader of the Hellfire Club, Quinn absolutely shines as Eddie from the very first second he appears on screen.
The sequence in which his character plays Metallica's "Master of Puppets" atop his trailer in the Upside Down as a distraction is one of the most epic, cheer inducing scenes in Stranger Things to date, while his death after a heroic last stand is one of the most heartrending. It's hard to believe that prior to this, Quinn was most well known for a bit part role as a Winterfell guard on Game of Thrones.
