Stranger Things Season 3: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best

3. Joyce Byers

If the previous seasons taught us anything, it’s that Joyce Byers is at her best when she’s fighting an uphill battle and attempting to convince others of the impossible. She was right about the Upside Down, she was right about Will’s possession and, this time, she was right about the electromagnetic field surrounding Hawkins.

Though it would have been nice to see her share some more screen-time with her sons, Will and Jonathan, (they are, after all, her main purpose for fighting), Winona Ryder made sure that we were just as emotionally connected to the character’s new story and, if anything, her super sleuthing with Hopper was proof that you can take this girl out of Hawkins, but you can’t take the Hawkins out of her.

Moreover, the fact that it finally allowed her to address (and explore) her feelings for Hopper gave it another juicy emotional hook – one that fans of the pairing found incredibly fulfilling to watch.

Forever Stranger Things’ MVP, we should all know by now that it's foolish to doubt the conviction of Joyce Byers.
