Stranger Things: Who Is The American?

4. Murray Bauman

Murray Bauman, AKA "Bald Eagle" is Hawkins' residential Russian conspiracy theorist, and can be something of an acquired taste. Personally, this writer thinks he's hilarious, especially because of the meltdowns he has on Nancy and Jonathan in season two, then Hopper and Joyce in season three, about why they won't just quit the arguing and go for a nice roll in the hay.

When it comes to his chances of being the Russian captive, he does have a lot going for him. For one, he was seen pretty frequently around the Russian facility speaking the language and already has a reputation as a conspiracy theorist. While being hunted by Russians, Bauman was also chumming it up with Dr. Alexi at the fair, right up to Alexi was taken out as a traitor.

After the explosion, we last saw him reconnecting with Joyce to be lead to safety, but after that, nothing.

In the "three months later" closing scene, Bauman is the only character not getting checked in on. While it may be safe to assume he's fine when you consider that you can call his voicemail provided in the show for an update (look it up), there are also a lot of signs pointing to him possibly being the captured American.
