8. The Impending Love Triangle(s) - Down
Love triangles seem to be a necessary part of so many shows these days, a quick way of adding some dramatic tension to a romantic storyline (or at least that's the thinking), and Supergirl is no different in this regard. In fact, not content with one love triangle, it's setting things up for there to be two. Firstly, there's the fact that Kara is clearly into James (as in awkwardly laughing way too much at his joke about tea levels of into him), and there does seem to be a hint of romantic interesting on his part. Not as much as there is from Winn, however, who can hardly disguise his attraction to Kara, though she sees him just as a friend at the moment. James and Kara are now involved in another triangle as well, as his old flame Lucy Lane (yes, she is a relation) shows up in National City, hoping to work things out with 'Jimmy'. He reluctantly goes along with it, while Kara doesn't look too happy at the thought of them together. While it's understandable why they'd do this, hopefully it won't get too much focus going forwards. You can have male and female characters work together and be friends with each other, and even develop romance, without forcing in love triangles.
