The relationship between Clark Kent and Lois Lane is among the greatest that DC has to offer. It's up there with Batman and Catwoman, The Flash and Iris West, Green Arrow and Black Canary and, on most of those lists, it's at the very top - that's how iconic the pair are.

We've seen a lot of legendary interpretations on the big and small screens too. From Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder to Tom Welling and Erica Durance, Clark and Lois' chemistry is known for setting the screens alight. With that in mind, fans have been intrigued to see if Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch could follow in those legendary footsteps. Thankfully the answer is: Yes.

The pair were fun during their appearances in the crossovers, but here they shine like the main event players that they are. There's a maturity in their performances that hasn't been seen in other portrayals - which figures considering they are telling a new side of the story - and yet there is that familiar spark that is so definitively Lois and Clark, you would think these two had been playing the roles for years beforehand.

It's too early to say that Clark Kent and Lois Lane could end up being the defining performances of Hoechlin and Tulloch's careers, but the truth is that if they carry on the way they performed in that pilot episode, that will come to pass. And, in the process, these two could very well become this generation's definitive Superman and Lois Lane.
