One of the more interesting aspects of Jensen Ackles (Dean) and Jared Padalecki's (Sam) personal lives, is that they both married actresses who appeared on the show.

In Jared's case, he actually met his wife Genevieve (nee Cortese) when she took over the role of the demon Ruby in Supernatural's fourth season, going on to marry her in 2010. Jensen also married his wife, Daneel (nee Harris) in 2010, but Daneel wouldn't make an appearance in Supernatural until 2018, taking on the recurring role of Sister Jo/Anael for the show's final few seasons.

However, it wasn't until the 15th and final season that both of the boys' wives finally appeared on screen together. This momentous occasion occurred in the 13th episode of the season, Destiny's Child, which brought Ruby back after being absent for a decade or so, and retroactively established a connection between her and Anael.

This was clearly something that was done as a treat for not only the boys and their wives, but for the those dedicated viewers too. There's no real narrative reason for this meeting to have occurred, and the retcon required to make it happen actually creates some plot holes. But the final season had an air of celebration, bringing back a vast number of past characters for a final bow, and it was no doubt decided that fans would get a massive kick out of seeing the two wives share some screen time.
