The Chris Gethard Show: 15 Greatest Moments

2. First Times

Maybe the best ending next to that of Caller Critiques is the tear-inducing finale of this episode. The show is predicated on the idea that many people are experiencing or going to experience something for the first time. For instance, Chris Gethard takes a bite out of a ripe tomato and ever-reliable guest Aidy Bryant reluctantly tries yogurt.

The idea of a show centered around first times inherently works as an introductory episode and the show's execution works as one of its best. Every caller calls in for their first time and tells stories about their first time doing something - most of which are insanely embarrassing and/or terrifying, but completely in line with the show's attitudes. It is another celebration of being a loser that ends with a more concrete moment of happiness.

I feel bound by some sort of code of honor to not spoil the ending, but it is one of the earnest, emotional experiences that has come to define the show over the years and works both for new and long-time viewers.
