The Big Bang Theory: 10 Characters You Totally Forgot Existed
7. Dr. Gallo (Leonard's Psychiatrist)
Season 9, Episode 12: The Sales Call Sublimation
When Penny tries to pitch pharmaceuticals to a psychiatrist called Dr. Gallo, she's refused. Trying to meet her in a roundabout way, Penny urges Leonard to go to her office and pose as a patient. When Leonard points out that he has no problems to discuss, he is reminded how his mother, Beverly, made his life hell as a child. Leonard is sceptical at first but is won over when Gallo says she's heavily critical about Beverly's books on parenting.
Gallo feels like a whirlwind since she swoops into The Big Bang Theory briefly but makes a big stir amongst the characters. Leonard feels like she's the first person that agrees with him about his mother's brutal parenting, inspiring him to openly condemn her. She also makes Penny realise Leonard's constant need for validation is causing him to subconsciously turn her into the mother he always wanted.
Because of her influence on the ensemble, it's a massive shame Gallo never made a reappearance. Due to her disapproval of Beverly's work, it would've been amazing to see the two ladies become sworn enemies.
