When Penny was first introduced, she was your typical naive young woman who moved to Los Angeles hoping to get discovered and make it big as an actress. Like so many other Hollywood hopefuls, it didn't happen.

While she did get some work in crummy films and modeling, she continued to work at the Cheesecake Factory and never amounted to much in terms of her theatrical goals.

Eventually, she took a job as a pharmaceutical representative and began killing it in that industry. It's something she does well and has progressed in her role. At this point, she is the main breadwinner in the family and doesn't seem to want to reprise her role as a struggling actress.

There's a theory out there that Penny will be "discovered" and land a role in a major Hollywood film in a last-minute/out of nowhere scenario that fulfills all of her dreams by the final episode. This is one of those theories that could happen, but probably won't. Penny truly has moved on with her life in this regard so she might receive the offer, but reject it. Whatever happens in regards to Penny, the real hope for a proper conclusion is to finally learn her last name.
