The Big Bang Theory: 10 Theories On How It Will End
5. Leonard (Not Sheldon) Is Nominated For A Nobel Prize
Dr. Sheldon Cooper has spent his entire life working towards a single goal: to be recognized for his brilliance with a Nobel Prize in Physics. It's not an unattainable goal for a man in his line of work, but that doesn't mean it's easy to do.
Most of his career has been met with failure in getting that recognition, which suggests a nice way to say goodbye to the character would be to send him to Stockholm to receive his prize.
Another way the show could handle it wouldn't be to give that award to Sheldon, but instead, award it to Dr. Leonard Hofstadter. Think about it for a moment: how enraged/proud/miserable would Sheldon be to end up in Stockholm to watch his best friend and sometimes intellectual rival receive the award he has always sought?
Such an outcome is highly unlikely, but it would be a fun way for a comedy about two geniuses living together striving for academic recognition to come to an end. Frankly, it could just as easily end with Leonard receiving news of his nomination while Sheldon's inbox remains empty. It's a cruel theory to be sure, but one that has some potential.
