Leonard Hofstadter is a guy who puts up with a lot. After a childhood where he felt often like he was living in a science experiment, as an adult he chose to live with a man whose previous roommate wrote "Die Sheldon Die" on the wall.

From the moment he moved into the apartment he chose to sign a roommate agreement that restricted a lot of his life. He can't change the thermostat from 72 degrees, he needs to notify Sheldon 12 hours in advance if he is bringing over a house guest and must drive Sheldon to all of his appointments.

Despite this, Leonard does put up with all of Sheldon's demands. As he says to Professor Proton, he needs Sheldon just like Sheldon needs him. Leonard might put up with a lot, but he is happy to do it.
