With Maeve surviving a huge fall while losing her powers, and Soldier Boy going back on ice, the only major death of season three was that of Black Noir. The mysterious supe had some of the most incredible character development, through flashbacks and the inner workings of his mind, but was unceremoniously gutted by Homelander.

However, after the season finale aired, showrunner Eric Kripke hinted at the Black Noir name continuing on, stating that though the person behind the persona is absolutely dead, a completely silent, masked character is easy to recast.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently going through a phase of ushering in new versions of its original heroes, and this could be a similar thing in a way. In theory, absolutely anyone could take up the Black Noir mantle and no one would ever know the difference, with the exception of the Seven, the Boys, and Ashley.

With the ridiculous turnover of heroes in recent years, Homelander may keep the new Noir a complete secret, though on the other hand if season three showed Homelander one thing it’s that he doesn’t have to lie or hide anything anymore.
