Originally debuting as a comic series, The Boys has been around for longer than you might think.
First debuting in 2006, the series brought us a world of corrupt superheroes who often engaged in reckless behaviour which had severe consequences.
However less than a year later, the series was abruptly cancelled due to DC Comics being worried about the anti-superhero side of the comics. Two years later, Dynamite Entertainment announced a spin-off mini series which allowed for a lot more freedom from writer Garth Ennis.
In 2019, genius Eric Kripke, the mastermind behind the popular horror TV series Supernatural, began to explore The Boys as a TV show project, together with Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen. The creators suggested new perspectives and offered a new look at the classic superheroes. Same notable costumes, same powers and strength, yet a villainish attitude with a pretty dark and cynical side.
