The Boys has made some big changes to the source material since launching on Amazon, and there's another big one in season two with the arrival of Stormfront. In the comic books, he was secretly created in Nazi Germany and continued operating in the years after World War II. In the TV show, actress Aya Cash is taking on the role, and it seems that Nazi past is going to be changed somewhat.

During the virtual TCAs, showrunner Eric Kripke elaborated on the reason for changing Stormfront's gender. "We wanted to sort of create Homelander’s worst nightmare. And his worse nightmare would be a strong woman who wasn’t afraid of him and proceeded to steal his spotlight. I think that would hurt him way more than if it were a male character because he is a gaping hole of insecurity."

The Boys was published long before social media gave white supremacists a voice online. This Stormfront will be quite the star on sites like Twitter and Instagram, with Kripke going on to explain that the show's version of the character aims to delve into how younger people are using that to spread hate. Needless to say, this could be the most despicable member of the team to date.
