2. The Military Links - Daredevil S2

There are a couple of complex military-flavoured Easter Eggs in the second season of Daredevil relating to Punisher that are pretty eye-opening.

In the third episode, Frank Castle speaks with an old man on the roof and as he assesses whether he'll need to kill him, the pair discuss military service. Castle says he toured Iraq and Afghanistan and his new friend says he was a Vietnam Vet. Cleverly, the unit he mentions - the 3rd Marine Company - is the same company Castle served in during Vietnam.

And then later when Clancy Brown's villainous colonel recounts the tale of Castle's heroics at war, he's basically telling the story of the end of Punisher Born, albeit reframed in a different war.
