The Flash: 10 Characters Who Should Join Season 3

Fingers crossed that these characters turn up in Central City next season.

The Flash Black Racer
DC Comics/The CW

With Season 2 of The CW's The Flash now in our rear-view mirror, it's time to look at what lies ahead for the Grant Gustin-headlined show.

Given the decades of comic book history that The Flash has, there's so much potential in terms of what heroes and villains could turn up in the future of the Scarlet Speedster. All that we know for sure about the upcoming third season is that it is to be the show's take on the fan-favourite Flashpoint comic book arc.

In that story, Barry Allen goes back in time to save his mother from dying, but in doing so that creates a completely different 'present day' that sees the world in chaos. Essentially, Barry unwittingly dooms the entire planet by making the decision to save his dear old mum. With some take on that arc set to play out in the show's next season, that largely means that all bets are off when looking at what lies ahead for the series.

Regardless of how Flashpoint is handled, though, what we have here are ten characters who could (and hopefully will) arrive in the streets of Central City when The Flash returns later this year.

10. Monsieur Mallah

The Flash Black Racer
DC Comics

This new addition to The Flash wouldn’t directly involve the Scarlet Speedster himself, but instead would be based around fan-favourite Gorilla Grodd.

After Grodd returned during the show’s second season, the psionic gorilla was sent packing to what appeared to be Earth-2’s take on Gorilla City. Whilst we’re all eagerly hoping to see more of Grodd in Season 3, it’d be great if Monsieur Mallah was brought along with him for the ride.

Mallah was a regular gorilla who was experimented on by a crazed scientist who gave him human intelligence. Once this scientist died and had his mind placed into a device known as Brain, Mallah continued to work with his mentor and became a rogue who spent most of his time fighting the Teen Titans.

With the whole Flashpoint arc seemingly in play for the series’ third season, who’s to say that Earth-1 won’t have a Gorilla City of its own as a way to bring Grodd back? If so, Monsieur Mallah could be someone working at the side of one of The Flash’s most famous and beloved villains.

We're all hoping that Grodd does indeed return soon, and if and when he does, seeing him commanding a group (dare I say, an army) of gorillas, ala 2014's Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, makes Mallah a perfect fit for Season 3 of The Flash.
