The Flash: 10 Things Season 2 Has Got Horribly Wrong (So Far)

9. Zoom Is Not As Compelling As Reverse-Flash

By this time last year, it was clear that the Reverse-Flash was going to be a formidable enemy. While Zoom boasts just as much power as his predecessor, if not more, his characterization has rendered him far less threatening. There was a compelling mystery surrounding the Reverse-Flash€™s motivations and where he came from, and despite those same questions existing for Zoom, they€™re far less exciting this time around. Perhaps that€™s because he€™s a faceless monster, whereas Reverse-Flash was anchored by Tom Cavanagh€™s brilliant performance. All of these complaints could go out the window if Zoom unmasks and reveals himself as someone we know (Earth-2 Henry Allen or Eddie Thawne, perhaps?) but as it currently stands, there€™s little emotional attachment to the villain. His generic motivation is that he wants power for the sake of having power and all he€™s really done is threaten other villains into working for him. There€™s still plenty of time to develop the villain more, but as it currently stands, beyond looking cool and having a menacing voice, Zoom doesn€™t have much going for him.
