The Flash Season 2: 12 Questions We're Asking After Flash Of Two Worlds

9. Why Is Cisco Seeing The Past?

We know from last season that there are big things in store for Cisco's future, but last week and more obviously this week are more concerned with him looking into the past. Even if it isn't by choice. He had a vision of Al Rothstein in the previous episode, although it wasn't clear what was going on. Here it's much more apparent that he is just seeing the past, as the events he witnesses are ones that have already played out on screen: Barry vs Sand-Demon, and then the latter holding Patty captive. While it comes in useful for finding Patty, it's unclear exactly what is causing these visions, nor why the only things he sees are the past. He's on the path to becoming Vibe (which they're being rather on-the-nose about), but so far he's seeing events in this universe rather than others. Is there more of a reason to that? How long before he truly gets to understand and develop those powers?
