The Flash Season 2: 12 Questions We're Asking After Flash Of Two Worlds

6. Why Has Iris' Mother Returned Now?

It had already been confirmed that Francine West would be coming into the show this year, played by Vanessa Williams (another Candyman alum this season). However, timing is everything, and she has really picked her moment. She shows up towards the end of the episode at the police station, stating that Joe hasn't been returning her calls and she wanted to see him and their daughter. Given she has been missing for so long, and her absence has been accepted by both Joe and Iris, it begs the question of why now? Is it really a case of a mother wanting to reconnect with her daughter? It seems a little too coincidental, arriving at a time when metahumans are showing up and crossing between worlds. Am I reading too much into this?
