The Flash Season 2: 16 WTF Moments From 'The Reverse-Flash Returns'

2. Hunter Zolomon

Wow! Who saw that coming then? With no Earth-1 Jay Garrick in known existence, many were starting to think that maybe the apparent Earth-2 Jay was actually, possibly, maybe really the Earth-1 version of the character. That would explain his lack of speed, although it would also muddy the waters far too much. Instead, we€™d learn that the Earth-1 Jay Garrick was actually a man known as Hunter Zolomon€ a name that comic book fans will instantly recognise. In the comic book realm, Hunter Zolomon is the name of a friend of the Wally West version of The Flash. Well, until his back is broken at the hands of Gorilla Grodd. Pleading with Wally to go back in time and alter his fate, Zolomon resorts to becoming a speedster himself. Seeing parallels between himself and Eobard Thawne, who in the comic books is known as Professor Zoom, Zolomon decides that it is his fate to become Wally West€™s Reverse-Flash, donning a yellow suit and tormenting this latest incarnation of The Flash. Of course, the €˜big bad€™ of this season is Zoom, a speedster from Earth-2 who wants Barry Allen€™s speed, and the arrival of Hunter Zolomon, Zoom€™s regular alias in comic book lore, certainly surprised many. This could play out in a whole variety of ways, and it only adds further to the mystery of just who Zoom really is.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic. Between his main dayjob, his role as the lead panel host of Wales Comic Con, and his gig as a pre-match host for Wrexham AFC games, Andrew has also carried out a hugely varied amount of interviews, from the likes of Robert Englund, Kane Hodder, Adrienne Barbeau, Rob Zombie, Katharine Isabelle, Leigh Whannell, Bruce Campbell, and Tony Todd, to Kevin Smith, Ron Perlman, Elijah Wood, Giancarlo Esposito, Simon Pegg, Charlie Cox, the Russo Brothers, and Brian Blessed, to Kevin Conroy, Paul Dini, Tara Strong, Will Friedle, Burt Ward, Andrea Romano, Frank Miller, and Rob Liefeld, to Bret Hart, Sting, Mick Foley, Ricky Starks, Jamie Hayer, Britt Baker, Eric Bischoff, and William Regal, to Mickey Thomas, Joey Jones, Phil Parkinson, Brian Flynn, Denis Smith, Gary Bennett, Karl Connolly, and Bryan Robson - and that's just the tip of an ever-expanding iceberg.
