The Flash Season 2: 28 Easter Eggs & References You Might've Missed
27. New 52
One comic series that The Flash and the other CW/DC universe shows draw quite heavily on is the New 52. It was launched back in 2011 as a complete revamp of the DC Comics line, and recently came to an end with DC announcing its Rebirth series.
There are a number of nods throughout The Flash (and indeed Arrow) to the New 52, almost too many to mention. The most common is Channel 52, the news station that serves as the one TV channel pretty much everyone in this universe watches, which was glimpsed at a few different points throughout Season 2 (one instance actually served to give an update on Arrow, reporting on Oliver Queen's Mayoral campaign).
Perhaps the most important, though, was the presence of 52 breaches opening up across Central City, one of the first major looks at the multiverse coming into play.
Other examples include 52nd Street, and a gun with the model 00X52.
