Last year, The Flash seemed to be laying the trail for Flashpoint, only to not go through with it at the last moment. Here, they seemed to lay the groundwork for Crisis on Infinite Earths, but again changed course at the last moment.

This is something they've suggested happening before, with that 2024 newspaper front page appearing numerous times in Season 1, and they made more references here.

There was the mention of the "dimensional turning fork," although it was given a different purpose, and then the finale really makes it look like it's heading for Crisis: Zoom's whole plan is basically that, Harry mentions "infinite Earths," and the device used by Zoom, and how Barry stops him, is taken from the comics as well.

Again, though, it was all covering up the real plan.
