The Flash Season 2: 7 Theories On Zoom's True Identity
7. Hunter Zolomon
When the character of Zoom was first announced, before any real mystery around him was teased, as well as some Zoom/Professor Zoom/Reverse-Flash confusion, the name Hunter Zolomon was the logical one to assume would be the villainous speedster, because that's who has the mantle in the comics. Zolomon worked as a profiler for the police, and became good friends with Wally West's version of The Flash. However, an attack by Grodd left him paralysed from the waist down, and West refused to use the Speed Force to help him regain the use of his legs. He then took it upon himself to use the Cosmic Treadmill, which ended up in him being separated from time. This not only meant he had the use of his legs back, but could alter time to give the effect of superspeed. With West's refusal, he decided he needed to make him suffer a personal tragedy, thus becoming the villainous Zoom. Wally West is being introduced, so they could do this story, however with Barry around and Zoom targeting him that wouldn't make too much sense. Rather they could change it so that he has a personal vendetta against Barry, or just use the name Hunter Zolomon and invent a whole new backstory.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
