We finally got the answer to the man in the iron mask question this week, and while it wasn't necessarily a shock (depending on how much you've looked into various theories on it), it was a satisfactory one.

The MitIM turns out to be Jay Garrick, the real one. He's from Earth-3, and what's more he is played by John Wesley Shipp, aka the original Flash from the 90s TV series and, more pertinently, the guy who plays Barry's father on this show.

Shipp does a great job of making Garrick distinct from Henry Allen, and is clearly having a good time being back in a Flash suit, but it's not long before he's back off to his own Earth (via Earth-2). Like with the Wells family, will he return? Garrick is a huge part of the Flash mythology, and Shipp a great part of the show, that it would seem like a waste not to involve him now.
