The Flash Season 4: 7 Theories On How Barry Allen Will Return

5. Alternate Barry

Then again, will we really see Earth-1's Barry again? Yes, it's a tragic end for the character, as he has had his life with Iris taken away from him, but the character seems mostly at peace as he steps into the Speed Force with his 'mother' and heads off to speedster heaven. As any fan of Buffy The Vampire Slayer will tell you, if someone has gone to Heaven, it's best to leave them there.

Still, the world needs a Barry Allen so why not introduce one of the many other ones out there in the Multiverse? It would hardly be a new concept. We have met Earth-2 doppelgangers for all the main characters in the past and obviously we have got a new version of Harrison Wells every year so far. What would be the big deal?

Well, the big deal with getting a new Barry would be that fans would struggle to see him as the real Barry. What they could do instead, then, is introduce him as... wait for it... The real Wally West. If Henry Allen's doppelganger can be Jay Garrick, it's not ridiculous to imagine that an alternate Barry took the West family name when he was adopted.

Keiynan Lonsdale's character is much closer to The New 52 Wally, so arguably the show needs a version of the classic, beloved Wally West on the show. Just dye Grant Gustin's hair red and let him play up the humour and he would make a perfect Wally. That way The Flash could move forward without losing Gustin.
