The Flash Season 5: 3 Ups & 3 Downs From ‘Cause And XS’

1. Finally Some Answers

The Flash S5 Nora Eobard Thawne Reverse Flash
The CW

Barry's monologue on the dangers of time travel didn't sit too well with Nora, who returned to Iron Heights in 2049 to confront the man who had been helping her alter the timeline, Eobard Thawne. Her concerns momentarily angered the Reverse-Flash as he had to assure her that he was the only speedster who knew how to manipulate the timeline correctly and, if she listened to him, she could defeat Cicada, and only when that happened could she truly save her father.

While they have discussed Barry's fate before, this was really the official confirmation that we had been waiting for. From these closing moments, it does appear that Nora's overall goal is to stop the impending Crisis from happening and, as a result, prevent her father from ever vanishing. Given Thawne's expertise (and apparent desire to leave behind a positive legacy), he is undoubtedly the person best qualified to help her.

Much like we've anticipated, the Cicada storyline is being treated as an obstacle to overcome and it appears that when that happens, the juicy stuff will finally begin. This would make sense given that the pair's mission was one of the more intriguing arcs that have been running throughout the season. Now that we finally have some answers, let's hope that they continue to accelerate their plan in the coming weeks. The only question is: Are Thawne's intentions really pure?

Now, for the downs...
