The Haunting Of Hill House Review: 7 Ups & 2 Downs

3. The Fantastic Visuals

Apart from those aforementioned visual effects woes, this is an absolutely gorgeous-looking TV series for the most part, as ravishing cinematography combines with incredible production design to create a gorgeous canvas on which Flanagan tells his horrifying story.

If you own a 4K TV, this thing looks totally spectacular in UHD, especially the grand exterior shots of the house and the winding long takes inside the titular mansion.

While Netflix gets a fair amount of justified criticism for their bespoke content suffering from flat cinematography and generally cheap-looking visuals - the Marvel shows for one - few will be sharing that complaint about this show. It looks every bit as majestic and disarming as you'd hope for.
