The Last Man On Earth Season Finale: 10 Big Questions That Need Answering
1. Will Phil's Brother Return To Earth?
Possibly the most jarring realization in the final moments of the finale is that Phil's brother is alive in space. Played by the talented Jason Sudeikis, he's seen in what appears to be the International Space Station. He's tallying the lonely days on the walls of his satellite, hopelessly calling for any hint of life back on Earth.
Apparently Sudeikis was seen briefly in a family photo of Phil Miller's during the pilot episode but most just brushed it off as nothing more than an SNL callback. The idea that his brother is still alive (and in space!) was not even fathomed.
Originally, the brother was intended to be revealed in an earlier episode and have periodic cuts to him in his orbital abode. It was decided to save the surprise as a big reveal for the finale and it stirs more questions than could have been imagined.
Is it possible for the astronaut Miller to get back to Earth? And it seems that his former temp of a brother Phil might have some jealousy issues with his vastly more accomplished sibling. Will the two even be happy about a possible reunion?
