The Mandalorian: 10 Facts You Didn't Know About The Razor Crest
6. The Razor Crest Is About The Same Age As Luke Skywalker, And Looks It
One of the earliest lines of dialogue in the series tells us that the Razor Crest is a vintage, pre-Empire ship. Star Wars canon says that the Empire was founded in 19 BBY (Before the Battle of Yavin, or when Luke Skywalker blew up the Death Star in A New Hope.)
Official Star Wars references say Luke was born in 19 BBY, the same time as the Empire, making him barely a teenager during the Death Star battle.
The Mandalorian takes place in 9 ABY (After the Battle of Yavin), making the ship at least 28 years old when we first see it. This would be much like a modern bounty hunter riding around in a pickup or SUV built in 1992.
With this in mind, it's no wonder the ship shows show much wear and tear. In the first episode, it's far from pristine, and over the course of the series it gets attacked by aquatic monsters and giant spiders, crashed through ice, repeatedly shot at, stripped down by Jawas, and dunked into a harbour.
Inside, it's seen better days as well, as we are told by Zero (a droid who briefly pilots the Razor Crest) when he says that most of internal systems are very deficient because of lack of servicing.
Mando must go a long time between oil changes.
