The Mandalorian 2.8 Review - 6 Ups And 3 Downs From Chapter 16
1. The Book Of Boba Fett
I'll get to the fallout of Luke's appearance in just a second, but for now, let's all bask in the warm glow of this wonderful shot.
Aaaaaahhh. How lovely.
After Chapter 16 ripped all our hearts out of our chests with Grogu choosing to go with Luke Skywalker rather than stay with Din, we're treated to a lovely little post-credits sequence involving Boba Fett. Fennec Shand does her best Boushh impression, killing the Gamorrean guards near the staircase entrance, before the camera pans to reveal that none other than Bib Fortuna (the Twi'lek underling to Jabba in Episode VI) is sat in Jabba's throne.
Enter Boba, who enters shortly after and guns down Bib. He then proceeds to sit down in the throne himself (all the while Fennec helps herself to some fancy Star Wars drink), with his theme playing overhead. A quick fade to black later, and we're given a title: The Book of Boba Fett, another Star Wars spin-off series releasing in December 2021.
What else can you say? I doubt I'm the only one who's been won over by Boba this year, and besides, seeing more of Ming-Na Wen's Fennec isn't a bad thing either. Only time will tell what the character is getting up to on Tatooine, but expect the series to delve deeper into the character's backstory and motivations, which were mostly kept at arm's length for Season 2.
