The OA Season 2: 11 Big Questions After The New Trailer
3. What's The Central Story?
Season 1 of The OA really told two main storylines: there was the past, with Prairie as Hap's captive, the experiments, and the bid to escape, and then there was the present, with The OA regaling her story, fitting back into her old life, and leading to the school shooting. Interspersed in this were flashbacks to Russia, among a few other elements.
It looks as though Season 2 will be doing something similar. There's Prairie waking up in an alternate dimension, where she obviously didn't go on the bus and 'die', but instead grew up as Nina would have. And yet within that, she's still supposedly Hap's captive (as per the synopsis). So rather than past and present, the split this time is between dimensions, with the rest of the story centring on her friends she told her tale to.
But then there are also flashbacks to a younger Nina, and images of them together, alongside a suggestion of a broader mystery too that involves Karim in a role beyond being a simple private detective. How will all of this coalesce, and what's it really building to, especially in terms of a bigger, multi-season plan?
