The OA Season 2: What Does The Ending Really Mean?
7. Did Homer Survive?
Upon arriving in dimension two, Homer entered the body of Dr. Roberts. We can only assume that he wasn’t strong enough to fully take over Dr. Roberts, so Dr. Roberts remained as the dominant consciousness.
In the finale, Prairie helps to trigger his memory and Homer finally resurfaces, merging with Dr. Roberts. They become one, just like how Prairie eventually integrated with Nina.
Homer ran outside to save Prairie but was shot by Hap. Holding his dying body, Prairie tells him that she will take them to another place where they might not even know each other, but she tells him to find her.
When they travel to our dimension, it’s unclear what happened to Homer. His soul might have entered the body of his actor (Emory Cohen) or it could’ve gone somewhere else, perhaps to a different dimension.
There was a weird dream that Homer as Dr. Roberts had where he was trying to find a "lost love" by touching the different skins in an old woman's house. It’s possible it wasn’t actually a dream at all, but was a flashback of him in another dimension, proving that he and Prairie will always find each other.
Homer will have survived in some way, but we’ll have to wait until Season 3 to learn what happened to him.
