The Office: 10 Best Cameos You Won't Forget

8. Ray Romano

The Office Jack Black Cloris Leachman
NBC

Best known for his role as Ray Barone on the CBS sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, Ray plays Merv Bronte, a candidate for the regional manager position at Dunder Mifflin. Ray Romano is a stand-up comedian/actor who plays the part of nervous, self-deprecatory job candidate perfectly.

Merv is an unassuming character who is first seen in 'Search Committee Part 1'. Making small talk with Robert California, he convinces him that Dunder Mifflin is an awful place to work - This in turn manipulates Merv into flunking his own interview.

The odd exchange in the interview room sees Bronte asking if the job will cover his relocation costs, so he can move further away from Scranton. He is also seen removing a sandwich from his briefcase before eating his lunch in the middle of his interview - all in a bid to ensure he doesn't get the job. Regretting his decisions in Part 2, he puts it down to the fact he's afraid of being happy - case in point he tells the camera crew he was due to start another job that day.

Poor Merv.
