2. Warmhearted
No matter how over the top and ridiculous The Office can get the shows core remains unchanged. Sometimes the characters seem to hate one another, pulling pranks that are sometimes border line criminal, and even on occasion crossing the line of what is legal, (Angela taking out a hit on Oscar.) Sometimes they say hurtful things to one another, or stab each other in the back, but when all is said and done these people really do care about each other. Theyre friends in and out of work, and its that love that truly makes all the terrible stuff so funny. Comedy is a tricky thing, its not the same as telling a dumb blond joke to your friends at a party. Theres a delicate science to it, one that everyone over at The Office seems to have a pretty strong understanding of. And one of the biggest rules of comedy is hate is not funny. You could joke about hate, poke fun at people, highlight their flaws and laugh at them, but if there is no love than there is no comedy only sadness. The Office gets this, because buried beneath all the jokes and goofy situations there is a warm heart letting us all know it is okay to laugh.
