The Office: 15 Insane Details You Definitely Missed

8. In "A Benihana Christmas," Michael & Andy Bring The Wrong Women Back To The Office Party

In the season three two-parter "A Benihana Christmas," Michael and Andy pick up two waitresses at Benihana, but when the pair arrive back at the office later, they're actually in tow with two different women.

Hilariously Michael later remarks that he can't remember which waitress was his date, which tracks with the fact that neither of them is actually the woman he initially asked out at the restaurant.

In a subsequent interview, the show's creator Greg Daniels admitted that the gag didn't work as intended, because the script originally called for the two new dates to be unattractive, implying that Michael and Andy failed to pick up their first two prospects, but the women they cast for the payoff were ultimately "too good-looking."

Thankfully it still totally works as a "Michael and Andy are oblivious racists" gag, even if audiences may expose their own prejudices by not even realising that they picked up two entirely different women from the restaurant. More layers than an onion, this joke.
