In The Office we first meet Andy Bernard when he's working as a salesman in the Stamford office. He views himself as Josh's number 2 and as soon as he finds himself at Scranton, Andy sets out become Michael's new favourite.

Andy takes up a bitter rivalry against Dwight for Michael's affections but it is his anger issues that cause Andy's downfall. After time in rehab Andy comes back with a much calmer outlook on life.

Soon Andy finds that when he tries less hard, people tend to like him. He even manages to become Regional Manager, but his overconfidence leads to him quitting to take on the world of show business. Though things don't go to plan, he ends up back at his old college in a job that's actually perfect for him.
