BoJack Horseman is all about a successful comedy actor, BoJack, who was popular in the '80s. After the show he was in ended, he entered creative crisis mode and wasn’t given any new opportunities. This didn’t make his life boring however, and he filled his time with carbon monoxide parties and other intrigues.
BoJack was pessimistic and egocentric and didn’t know how to love, express his feelings or even admit his mistakes. Yet it was interesting to follow BoJack’s character and his relationship with others. He may have lived right on the mountain slopes of Hollywood but this didn't make the show all about famous actors, movies, and everything Hollywood. In the life of every character, there were unfulfilled ambitions, wrong decisions and plenty of missed opportunities.
Audiences didn’t really expect drama or philosophy at all, but this all arose suddenly in the form of harsh reality and serious problems. Throughout the show, the storylines of the characters developed harmoniously, friendship, love, and family ties were tested for strength.
