The Simpsons: 10 Best Ever Treehouse Of Horror Stories

10. Terror At 5 1/2 Feet (Treehouse of Horror IV)

As a parody of the Twilight Zone episode Nightmare At 20,000 Feet, Terror at 5 1/2 Feet is pretty decent. It doesn€™t do anything particularly fascinating with it, but it does use it as a frame on which to hang some absolutely excellent gags.

For instance, Homer blasting a klaxon in the kitchen and terrifying Bart: €œMarge, look at all this great stuff I found at the marina. It was just sitting in some guy's boat!€

Further, this from Groundskeeper Willie while clambering onto the school bus: €œMe mule wouldn't walk in the mud, so I had to put seventeen bullets in €˜im.€

Ned, while cradling the gremlin after Bart has fought it off from the side of the bus: €œAw, ain€™t that cute? He€™s trying to claw my eyes out.€

I realise this is a disparate bunch of unconnected quotes, but look at them. Look at them! You€™d have to go a long way to find a more handsome bunch of unconnected quotes. However, as good as the writing is in this one, the surprising meh-ness of the set-up and lack of a fascinating twist in the tail pushes it toward the lower reaches of this list.
