The Simpsons: 10 Best Guest Stars Ever
2. Johnny Cash
Now that we're getting toward the business end of our list, we just had to throw in the legendary, inimitable Johnny Cash. Of the plethora of musical talents to lend their voices to the Simpsons over the years, Cash, for me at least, was the most memorable. And that's because he didn't play himself. Oh no. He played a Space Coyote. Yep. A Space Coyote.
The singer of such classics as "I Walk the Line", "Folsom Prison Blues" and "Ring of Fire", Cash appeared in the 1997 episode "El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Jomer" - The Mysterious Voyage of Homer, to you and me.
After tasting Chief Wiggum's chili at a cook-off, which is spiked with "The Merciless Peppers of Quetzlzacatenango!", Homer encounters Cash's floating coyote head in a series of bizarre hallucinatory scenes in this particular episode. The Coyote acts as Homer's "spiritual adviser", later helping him realise Marge is his one true soul mate.
