A short time ago, in a galaxy a not very far away (actually, this galaxy), The Simpsons referenced Star Wars. A lot. It should come as no surprise that one of the most iconic sci-fi franchises has been the frequent target of mockery, homage, and adulation on what is often considered the greatest animated sitcom of all time. The writers and producers of The Simpsons are clearly fans of Star Wars, but just like any other fans, they have their fair share of criticism of how the franchise has been handled over the years. Whether it be through brief mentions in jokes, or episodes nearly entirely dedicated to the topic of Star Wars, there have been literally dozens of Star Wars references over the years.
