The Simpsons: 10 Best Treehouse Of Horror Episodes
2. Treehouse IV
Near the top of the list now, and it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that the episode where Ned Flanders is the devil nearly takes the gold medal.
The Devil and Homer Simpson sees Homer sell his soul to Satanic Flanders in exchange for a donut, resulting in Homer enduring ironic tortures in the Underworld, and culminating in an infernal tribunal. The Simpsons has always had a knack for putting together a great courtroom comedy, and this one is another doozy, boasting a very evil jury (including a not-yet-dead Richard Nixon), and Lionel Hutz in typically scene-stealing form, before simply fleeing out of the bathroom window.
Terror at 5 ½ Feet returns to The Twilight Zone for inspiration in a tale that may not be one of the funniest in the Treehouse oeuvre, but is one of the most heart-pumping. Bart desperately tries to convince the disbelieving school bus that a gremlin is sabotaging the wheels, all whilst heavy rain lashes and lightning crashes.
Then Bart Simpson’s Dracula is just loads of fun. There’s something forever funny about Mr Burns saying the line “Well if it isn’t little… erm… boy”.
And you can’t do much better than Homer staking Mr Burns in the crotch.
