The Simpsons: 10 Best Villains Ever

2. Mr. Burns

With how prominent a character he is in the show, this whole entry could just catalogue all of his misdeeds and still run out of room before finishing the list. Some of the lowlights include: running Bart over, sexually harassing Marge, grinding animals into slurry, selling weapons to terrorists... oh yeah, and he stole the sun too.

The show has attempted to redeem him at times, casting the spotlight onto him around once a season. While Moe episodes tend to change the way we see the surly bartender (if only a little), Mr. Burns episodes typically see him destroy any goodwill built up with an evil, climactic act to reset things.

His ordeal getting Bobo back is probably the closest he’s come to an Eeny Meeny Maya Moe moment, but that’s the way the show needs him. As Lisa remarks in The Seemingly Never-Ending Story, we sometimes see his ‘humanity’, but for the most part we need him to be evil.

The show is over the top in every aspect; it needs villain to match. Miserly old Mr. Burns in his cavernous mansion, demonic smile on his thin, lizardlike lips while bony fingers clutch a glass of brandy is the perfect one.
