The Simpsons: 10 Funniest Episodes Ever Made

8. Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo (Episode 23, Season Ten)

There are a good number of "The Simpsons are going to...!" episodes that could have probably made this list (namely Bart vs. Australia), but it's Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo - which sees everybody's favourite American family on vacation in Japan - that truly knocks it out of the park. "The Happy Smile Super Challenge Family Wish Show," anyone?

Thirty Minutes Over Tokyo pokes fun at everything Japanese from the perspective of the clueless; cliches and archetypes are indulged, and there's a sense that the writers are going as far as they can. Whilst some people declared this episode "racist," it's far too ridiculous to be considered as such (and the Simpsons come out worse than anyone).

So Bart watches Japanese cartoons and has a seizure; Homer is impressed by the sophisticated toilets in his hotel room; Bart and Homer enter and exit rooms by walking directly through doors made of paper; Godzilla attacks during the Simpsons' flight home. All brilliantly dumb jokes - and that's without mentioning the hysterical Woody Allen cameo ("What did I do to deserve this? Oh, yeah"). It's certainly one to watch and re-watch.
